How Do I Know I Have The Power Of God

Quite often there’s a lot of confusion around experiencing the different aspects of God that are available to us. Unlike in this earthly world experiencing God is not predicated on our five senses, but rather on faith in what He says. Quite naturally, because of this, people begin to have questions like, how do I know I have the Power Of God?

As a general rule and fact, the presence of God’s Power becomes apparent when we draw near to Him and allow Him to draw near to us. We draw near to God when we submit to His word and demonstrate faith in what it says. The presence of God’s Power is not determined by what we feel.

Actually, the short answer to this question is simply faith. How do we know anything about God? This same question can be asked about almost everything about God and yet the answer would still be the same, faith. Let’s go into this a little more and I’ll show you what I mean, let’s get started…

How To See The Power Of God In Your Life

In II Corinthians 5:7 The Apostle Paul reminds us, “For we walk by faith, not by sight”. Living in this earthly realm can be incredibly frustrating once we convert to a life with Christ. For many, walking by faith is not the easiest thing to do in the beginning but if we ever want to know that we have the Power Of God it will be by way of walking by faith. This is just one of those things we can’t get around and God requires it for our very salvation. If we get things right in terms of faith, we will have no problem seeing or demonstrating the Power Of God.

Let’s talk about faith for a minute and how to make sure your faith is strong and powerful. In Luke 22:32 Jesus speaking to Peter said, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith fail not”. When I first read this verse It caught my attention because I thought to myself, all of the things that Jesus could have prayed He prayed that Peter’s faith wouldn’t fail? Why is that? Right then I began to understand the importance of faith.

Faith is the glue that holds everything else together, we have to have it. It takes faith to even confess that Jesus died and rose from the dead for our sins. It takes faith to be healed if you’re sick. We pretty much need faith for everything when it comes to God and His Kingdom, but then the question for some becomes, how do I either get faith or get more faith? Romans 10:17 tells us, “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ”.

This is what I meant at the beginning of this post when we talked about drawing near to God. When we shut off all of the devices and study God’s word He will in turn draw near to us. When we commit to daily Bible reading our faith is increased and with faith comes power.

What Are The Signs Of The Power Of God

In Mark 16th chapter Jesus ties the signs of the Power God to belief or faith. This further makes the point that the Power Of God can’t be accessed without faith. Do you want to know how you can know that you have the Power Of God? The answer is to believe that you have it, and you will. Let’s take a look at Mark 16:17-18, “And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover”.

Ironically this is a verse that a lot of Christians ignore because these signs don’t accompany them, and the truth of the matter is there’re a lot of people naming the name of Christ that don’t believe. How do we know this you may ask? Unfortunately, we know this because of the lack of signs, simple and plain. Jesus said that there should be signs. These signs are important because they play an essential role in advancing the Kingdom Of God.

You Know You Have The Power Of God When There’s A Fundamental Change In Your Heart

When the Power Of God comes on a person there’s a fundamental change in that person’s heart. They no longer live for themselves but for God. Their desires will be towards the things and work of God. On the outside, they will look the exact same as before, but on the inside, they couldn’t be more different. When God changes our hearts we are no longer the same person. We saw this with the Apostle Peter. Peter went from denying Jesus three times to boldly proclaiming the gospel in a short span of time. When the Spirit and Power of God come into a person they become confident and bold.

We know we have the Power Of God when His plan becomes our plan. There are people who proclaim Christianity but don’t follow God’s plan. Jesus said this would be the case in Matthew 7:21-23, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness”.

Jesus says that the one that does the will of my father, and God will not require us to do anything without giving us the power to do it. At the end of the day if you want to know if you have the Power Of God just roll your sleeves up and get to work. Things will become clearer as you go.
