How Do You Live By The Will Of God?

God creates everyone with a purpose to live out in this world. Everyone has different skills and talents to contribute to this world and more importantly, the Kingdom Of God. God intends for all of us to live on purpose, using our talents and skills to accomplish His will in the world, however; many people still have questions as to how to live by the will of God?

As a general rule, we live by the will of God when we submit to His salvation plan, which is faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. In addition, when we learn, obey, and share His Word with the world for the advancement of His Kingdom we live by the will of God.

Living by the will of God is a lifetime learning experience and journey and there’s no way to cover all of that knowledge in this writing but we can take a closer look and allow the Spirit Of God to answer some questions that a lot of people have. Let’s prayerfully take a look at what the Spirit Of God will share with us today, let’s get started…

What Does It Mean To Be In The Will Of God?

So the will of God is not at all hard to know since it is clearly outlined in the Bible for everyone to read. That said we still need God’s Spirit, just like with everything else, to reveal unto us the meaning of His Word. I Corinthians 2:14 tells us, “But the natural man receiveth, not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned”. So yes, anyone can read the text of God’s word but the understanding comes from God’s revelation.

Being in God’s will is being in obedience to what His word tells us to do. This is why I constantly stress the importance of regular bible reading. We must know what God requires in order to obey Him. It’s impossible to be in God’s will without reading His word regularly. Reading the bible also increases your faith, which you also need to be in the will of God. In Hebrews 11:6 the bible tells us, “But without faith, it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him”.

I’ve quoted that verse several times in other posts but it’s a very important verse because, as it says you have to have faith.

What Does It Mean To Pray The Will Of God?

When we pray for the will of God it means we want what God wants. Thy Kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Praying the will of God is also a form of ministry because it activates the Power Of God to move on the earth. Praying for God’s will places you in the will of God, He wants us to do that. Praying for God’s will also helps to advance His will on the earth, an earth that is in desperate need of God. All of that being said I’ll repeat again that in order to pray for His will you have to know it. Praying for the will of God or living by the will of God is being on task.

God has given every born-again believer a task to do. That task is to spread the gospel of Jesus, the Christ. This task is a daily task that we must be constantly doing. Once we are born again our lives no longer belong to us but we rather become servants of Christ. It’s not Church attendance that places us in the will of God. It’s not membership or shaking the pastor’s hand that places us in the will of God. It’s being on task and doing what God has told us to do.

This is why Jesus says in Matthew 7:21, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

What Is The Acceptable Will Of God?

In Romans 12:1-2 these words are recorded, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”. This verse illustrates what I said above in that we become servants of Christ to accomplish God’s will on earth. Many people have other goals for their lives and sometimes feel they don’t have time for the will of God.

The truth of the matter is that the only time man is protected and safe is when we are in God’s will. When we’re disobedience and out of God’s will it gives the devil the opportunity to steal, kill, and destroy our lives. All of the promises that are in God’s Word become void to us because of disobedience. In Romans 12:1 the Apostle Paul begs us to present ourselves to God as living sacrifices, friends we’ve gotten away from God. We can’t know the acceptable will of God if we don’t stay close to Him through prayer, fasting, and regular Bible reading.

This is how God is able to transform our minds into the image of Christ. Friends, the way things are going in the world today we need as many people as possible transformed into the image of Christ. Friends we are no match for the devil and his evil demons, and one needs only to look at the news to see the clear need for God. I urge everyone to learn the will of God, get in the will of God and teach as many people as possible to do the same. That’s how you live by the will of God and make the world a better place.
