What Is The Power Of God’s Word?

In our mordern society there is certainly no lack of words. Sadly the words that we speak to one another don’t always amount to much. God’s Word on the other hand is a totally different story. The Bible teaches us that God’s Word will accomplish whatever it sets out to do, and heaven and earth will pass away before it fails. So what makes God’s word so different? What is the Power Of God’s Word?

The Power Of God’s Word is a direct result of His own Omnipotence, which is maximal power, maximal greatness (or perfection). The fact that God is Omnipotent, or all powerful makes His Word all powerful. There is no separation between God’s Power and God’s Word, they are one and the same.

There is a lot to be said about the Power Of God’s Word and we’re going to take our time and hear what the Spirit Of God wants to share with us, buckle up, let’s get started…

Is The Power Of God’s Word For Everyone?

Just a minute ago I said that God and His Word were one and the same and in John 1:1 the Bible confirms this and says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”. In studying God’s Word there are three things that you will quickly notice about His Word.

  1. God’s Word doesn’t change. (Proverbs 30:5-6)
  2. It accomplishes what it set out to do. (Isaiah 55:11)
  3. Anything that it’s directed towards, living or not, must obey. (Mark 4:37-41)

We serve a great and Mighty God! The Power Of God’s Word is not for everyone but rather for those who have died with Him through faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of The Lord Jesus, The Christ. One of the great blessing of being a joint heir with Christ is that we are also able to access the power of God’s Word. God gives those who fear Him access to all of the benefits that Jesus receives being the heir to God. Submitting to and serving the Lord comes with so many benefits and promises from God and the power of God’s Word is just one of many.

In John 14:12 Jesus says, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father”. We are quite literally suppose to being doing the same works and miracles that Jesus performed when He was on the earth. The whole salvation process is suppose to produce more of Jesus and His Power in the earth. This is the reason that God gives us the power of His Word. God wants us to make a difference in this world for His Kingdom.

How Does The Power Of God’s Word Help Me?

The Power Of God’s Word is very helpful to us personally because it allows us to proclaim God’s Word over our lives and situations. The devil will constantly attack your mind to try and sow seeds of doubt as to wheather God is with us or not. The Power of God’s Word will quench those lying thoughts and allow you to remain firm in your faith. We can’t have the Power Of God’s Word without knowing God’s Word. Jesus gave us a perfect example of this during His period of fasting in the wilderness.

In Luke 4:1-2 the Bible says, “And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered”. This is a critical lesson for all of us because it reveals the devils method of attack and how to overcome it. Jesus shows us that we can’t let the devil speak to our minds and plant thought of fear, doubt and unbelief. We can’t let the devil tell us that were going to die and we can’t be healed.

We have to do as Jesus did and fight back with the sword of the Spirit, the Word Of God and remain in faith! This is why Bible reading is so important! Not reading and knowing the Bible is like being in a gun fight or a war without a gun. We can’t defend ourselves without a weapon. The Power Of God’s Word will help us when we learn His Word and apply it in our hearts, soul, and mind regularly. We must consciously choose to remain in faith and believe God’s Word over what the devil says.

How Do We Use The Power Of God’s Word?

Before we talk about how to use The Power Of God’s Word we have to understand what it’s for. Every gift and Power Of God is for the advancing of His Agenda/Kingdom. In order for us to have His Power we have to have the right motive. God doesn’t give us power so that people will see how great we are. We are soilders in the army of the Lord. Our motive has to be to further the Kingdom Of God and so we use The Power Of God’s Word when we learn His Word and then weaponize it through applying faith to what we’ve learned.

In II Corinthians 10:3-5 the Apostle Paul says, “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”. God’s Word is the most powerful weapon that anyone can have. God’s Word mixed with your faith is unstoppable in every situation. Jesus demonstrated this over and over again.

When Jesus spoke to the winds and the waves He demonstrated the power of His Word. When Jesus commanded Lazarus to come forth He demonstrated the power of His Word, and we can do the same. We build our faith by reading God’s Word this my friend is the path to spiritual success and power.
