What Is The Divine Power Of God? How To Experience It?

In the first book of Timothy 3:16 the Bible says great is the mystery of godliness. Anytime man attempts to understand the mysteries of God we just have to be honest and admit, that it’s going to be a heavy lift for our minute minds. The divine power of God is no exception never-the-less we do want to take a deep dive into this very thought-worthy subject, what is the divine Power Of God?

As a general rule, the divine Power Of God is God’s Power which is unlimited, universal, and transcends human capacities. The divine Power Of God is not limited by space or time and can not be experienced apart from a born-again experience through faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of The Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

The subject of the divine Power Of God is, as I’ve said, a very broad topic, and although it’s impossible to cover every aspect of the topic we pray that the holy spirit would bless us with a glimpse into this Glorious mystery. Let’s explore together…

What Does Divine Power Mean?

The English word divine comes from the old Latin word, deiuos, and later the Latin word divinus (Divine, of a deity, superhuman, supernatural. When we say, “divine power” we are literally saying the Power Of God. One of the most unique things about divine power or God’s Power is that whatever it’s directed at must obey, human or otherwise. When Jesus calmed the winds and the waves He declared peace be still and the wind and waves had to obey. Now that’s the textbook definition but to really understand what divine power means one only needs to look into God’s word.

Throughout the Bible we see God demonstrate His power over and over again in some unbelievable ways. What does divine power mean? It’s the power that God performs that can not be explained or understood in human terms. Paul wrote in Ephesians 3:20, “Now unto Him, that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us”. God is able to do a lot more than we can imagine, just think about that. Our minds don’t have the ability to imagine all that God can do through His divine power. Every miracle in the Bible was a demonstration of God’s Divine Power.

In Mark 16:17 Jesus tells His disciples, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover”. All of these signs, as Jesus puts it, are clear demonstrations of divine power.

Why Do We Need Divine Power?

Since the time of Adam and Eve humanity has always had an incredible appetite for independence. As time goes on it seems that this hunger for independence continues to rapidly grow and grow and grow. So it’s no surprise that we find ourselves having to answer the question, why do we need divine power?

Divine power is needed to fulfill the great commission outlined by Jesus in Matthew 28:19 where we are encouraged to go into the world and preach the gospel to all nations. Divine power is also needed to fend off attacks from the devil on our minds and faith.

In Acts 1:8 the Bible says, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth”. We need divine power to live a Christian life. When a person is born again they become marked by the kingdom of darkness. Satan does not want anyone walking around on earth telling other people that Jesus saves. Hell will throw everything it has at any attempt to advance the Kingdom Of God.

We must remember that there’s a spiritual world in existence right now running parallel to the earthly world that we are in right now. When a person dies that is where they go, for better or for worse. Whether a person goes to heaven or hell they will enter the spiritual world upon leaving this earthly one. So yes, we absolutely need divine power to defend against these spiritual attacks. It’s the divine power of God that gives us dominion and authority over demonic forces and allows us to be effective instruments for righteousness.

How To Experience Divine Power

We live in a world today that is much different from the one that existed during the time of Jesus, however; one thing that hasn’t changed is the need for the divine power of God. So in light of this and all that is happening in our world many people want and need to know how to experience divine power.

Placing one’s faith in the word and promises of God is the prescribed method of experiencing the divine Power Of God. A person’s faith is ideally increased through regular Bible reading, prayer, and fasting. Hebrews 11:6 says that God rewards those who diligently seek Him.

We experience God the same way we experience each other. The more time we spend with Him the better we will know Him. We also can simply ask God for more revelation of His person and power, Psalms 25:14 reminds us, “The secret of the LORD is with them that fear Him;
and He will show them his covenant”
. If we want to experience Him we must diligently seek Him.

What Are The Benefits Of Having God’s Divine Power?

The Bible speaks of many benefits that are associated with not only the divine power of God but also having a right relationship with God in general. We have to remember when God created man, that man was never intended to operate without God’s guidance. When we operate outside of God’s guidance we forfeit our right to our benefits, but what are the benefits of having God’s divine power that is forfeited?

The benefits of having God’s divine power are peace, protection, healing, comfort, dominion, authority, victory, and ultimately eternal life. It is by God’s divine power that we are able to enjoy all of these benefits and protections. Without having these benefits we subject ourselves to fear, doubt unbelief, worry, anxiousness, anxiety, sickness, pain, disease, and all of the evils of the kingdom of darkness. Don’t allow satan to hold you in bondage in this way, who the Son sets free is free indeed.
